For the past few months, Naija Chess Online has continued to evolve and develop. As part of this development the community’s name evolved from Naija Chess Online to Chess Nigeria Online (CNO), and are currently running the second edition of the Speedchess tournament in Africa, which has International Master Adu Oladapo (Dapsay), Fide Master Adebayo Adegboyega (Dabee), and a host of other notable Nigerian Chess Players. The Speedchess was inspired by the continuous growth found on chess.com, one of the foremost chess playing websites in the world with over 40 million users on their platform.
As an avenue to continue the growth in the Chess Nigeria Online company, the organization will be introducing her in-house Chess Titles, the first of its type in Africa, with the process to obtain it kicking off from 1st of March, 2018. This is similar to the one introduced by Fide, when they launched the Fide Online Arena Titles for online players of a lower band.
However, unlike the Arena titles that can only be obtained by paid membership after playing 300 rated games [ 50 Rapid, 100 Blitz, and 150 Bullet games], and still requires further payment to receive the title you have been awarded, Chess Nigeria Online have made their titles more difficult to attain than Fide online arena, no payment is required to receive the award.
The title will be awarded after completion of the required number of games in the 4 formats [Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, and Chess960]
We believe this new innovation will encourage more chess players to play online and work hard to develop their game and be rewarded for it. Players will be addressed with their in-house titles in our communications, all activities in our chess community will revolve around the titles, as we will have our Titled Tournaments and a few other mouthwatering benefits.
