Less than a decade ago, when Garry Kasparov visited a certain country, a journalist made a big mistake. In a press conference, with all dignitaries present, he asked the great Garry: “What’s your name, sir?”
Garry didn’t like the question, so he pretended to put his tie in order before deliberately coughing and said, “I haven’t been asked that question for over 25 years now, but I’m Kasparov Garry, former World Champion for 14 years.
People blamed the journalist for being ill prepared. “He should have researched that at home”, they said. Whether the journalist deserves such blame or not remains arguable. But the story teaches me about the power of preparation.
However small your assignment is, always prepare for it will help you do the assignment professionally. Do not underestimate the power of preparation.
Preparation may involve research. May involve practice to perfection. It may call you to surf on the internet or read books among other things.
Preparation will make you have an edge over your competitors.
Always prepare for your assignment, for you never know what opportunities it will bring forth.
Prepare thoroughly for you never know who else will be watching.
Sometimes it’s good to prepare when there seems to be no obvious opportunity around because you shall have prepared longer by the time the opportunity comes.
Even our Lord Jesus Christ says, “I’m going to prepare a place for you in heaven”.
Here are some preparation quotes

“I don’t believe in luck, I believe in preparation.” ~Bobby Knight.
