In a remarkable achievement, Atlegang Monchosi, a talented young chess player from Klerksdorp, has qualified to represent South Africa at the prestigious World Youth Chess Championships tournament that is to be held in Florianopolis, Brazil, taking place from October 28 to November 10, 2024. This outstanding accomplishment is a testament to Atlegang’s dedication, hard work, and natural aptitude for the game. However, in order to make this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity a reality, Atlegang requires financial assistance and support from our community.

A Rising Star:

Atlegang Monchosi, who is 16 years old, has been making steady progress in the local chess scene with impressive wins and consistent improvement. Her passion for chess began when she learnt the game at 7 years old as part of her Grade 1 class at Methodist Primary Schools, and since then, they have demonstrated unwavering commitment to mastering the game. Under the guidance of Coach Eazy Tshabadira, Atlegang has refined her skills, developed strategic thinking, and cultivated resilience.

The estimated total cost for Atlegang’s participation is arount R110 000 for both the player and accompanying chaperone as she is still a minor.
